Before the establishment of the American Empire, the world was rocked by at least two distinct wars featuring the use of nanotechnology.

The First Nano War involved extensive use of “conventional” (i.e., pre-nanotech) military technology. Tanks fortified with molecularly engineered plates, ultralight helicopters and the like were employed. Near the end of the war, computer expert systems and armoured mechanized infantry units were in use.

The Second Nano War featured genetically engineered and microscopically enhanced soldiers, as well as clouds of nanobots programmed for various forms of destruction. It is commonly accepted that NWII was initiated by one or more artificial intelligences working toward unknown goals.
