The Double Helix Club is a faction of the Blood who believe that the Blood represent the next step of human evolution. Members disagree on the mechanism of this evolutionary process - some feel that the genes for Blood characteristics are atavistic callbacks to an extinct species of superhumans that the interbred with humanity, others claim that radiation from atomic bomb tests have triggered an accelerated rate of mutation, and some think it's just the world deciding that it's time for Homo Sapiens to give way to Homo Superior.

The Double Helix Club was founded by two wealthy member of the Blood - Aaron Pentus and David Shaw. They see themselves as the future of the world, that the Blood will naturally replace humanity as the dominant species on Earth, as Man replaced the Neaderthals and mammals replaced the dinosaurs. Within the Club, there is some disagreement over how soon this will, or should, happen, and what the new rulers of the world should do with the humans who are left behind.

Being a member of the Double Helix Club means having a social group to spend time with, a group from whom you don't have to hide your difference - your specialness. It means not having to apologise for being stronger, faster and smarter than the mundanes that run the world. For now. It means knowing where the right bars and internet forums are, and being able to ask for a favour or a place to crash over night. It means being asked for favours in return. It means spending hours arguing over the proper place of “superior people” in society, and it means having a haven away from the mundanes.
