Blood Shadow uses the standard Amber DRPG attributes. Since most of the inhabitants of the world are normal Shadow dwellers, the value of Attributes above human level is greater than normal in an Amber game.
The average guy in the Blood Shadow has human level in all four attributes. This means that having Amber level, or even chaos level, is pretty good. Having points beyond Amber level is well into the superhuman range.
PCs start with Human level in all Attributes, and must buy up to Chaos/Amber level in fixed jumps before getting to free points.
Average guy - maybe a couple martial arts classes or basic knowledge of gun safety.
Can qualify as a military sharpshooter or hold off a trio of knife wielding thugs with an umbrella.
Can shoot the pips off a playing card or hold off a trio of Olympic fencers with an umbrella.
A normal human, with normal healing levels.
Healing is better than human - the PC will recover from serious wounds in days instead of weeks. Lifespan on the order of decades if not centuries. Ages slowly, reaching middle age after a couple generations of normal humans have passed. The PC can qualify for the Boston Marathon after a night of binge drinking.
Regeneration of missing limbs and some organs is possible. Lifespan is measured in millenia, and even centuries are unlikely to make much of a difference in the appearance of an adult with Amber or better level Endurance. The PC can compete in olympic long distance races while binge drinking.
Normal - just as strong as he or she looks.
Uncommonly strong. Tends to max out weight machines at gyms.
Supernaturally strong. A 100 pound girl can qualify for Olympic powerlifting or Heavyman games.
Base human. No sensitivity to psychic phenomena, can't use Trump, has no defence against mental attacks.
Can use Trump, picks up on general feelings of magic. Has basic psychic blocks.
Solid mental defences, can initiate mental contact through extended eye contact, picks up on magical effects readily.
